We can be "great" with a small "g" by rallying for what is right and defending ourselves and others from what is wrong. We can, for instance, have a massive impact on our small, inconsequential worlds within the context of what is permissible at work or home. We can even touch others lives profoundly by coming to their assistance, opening doors of opportunity, providing a second and third chance for redemption, etc. But we cannot be truly great in the context of a reality that refuses to allow for turbulence and hates individualism.

This is why I am excited to see the old, settled world give up its ghost. I am frankly bored with it.

The current world-wide disorder is apt to get much wose before it gets any better. While the world markets rally fueled on false hope and pols rally with slogans worth so much dirt - on one last ditch scheme to bamboozle and fleece the last among the commoners - I am realistic about the actuality of the political-economic breakdown that is inevitable. And I welcome it. I pray for it to be a quick.

And when this occurs, there will be many like me who bid good riddance to this stale disordered reality. When this occurs, there will be many like me who will lay patiently for the proper moment to shine.

It is not tranquility we abhor, but the placid injustice of being tied to a dying-man's shell. Let him pass. He has lived a good and long life. Let him pass so that newness and vitality - greatness - might spring from his rotting corpse.

La frontera se viene.

The Twatter Recommends...

1. In years past, most of us could never quite bring ourselves to truly consider "1984" more than a worst-case-scenario... surely this book was a work exploring the darker corners of a maniacal collective hive-mind - imposing its twisted will on the Individual through technological means, backed by an army of bureaucratic cunts.

But the time is here: where men and women sell their neighbors' liberties for a paycheck. The Thought Police are here and they will suss you out. You are the Other.

It's enough to begin to feel that maybe things are very much different than you were led to believe. That you are peeking behind the curtain. And I am a small mind. Misled as he was on many counts regarding Humanity, Orwell was, in terms of this Vision of his, quite inspired.

While reading this I decided to comment. The experience was truly spooky.

I wrote my comment...

"can you say Orwellian? you must get back to your roots - read this while they still let you - Milton's "Areopagitica" - the thought police have been waiting years and years for technology to lend a hand - now the technology and the will and the institutions are in place. fight, Britain! fight while you still can, you ninnies!"

Then I was prompted to register to post. No problem. But then I was prompted to provide my date of birth... "required by law" to do so, in fact. British Law.

Which confirmed for me that England is in fact the Gimp of Europe.

This makes me angry - because England should know better. Does, in fact, know better. But mostly I am sad because I know my country is lurching eagerly (of all things) down the same path.

Why do those who are so quick to remind us of their "enlightened" status seek to snuff out discourse? What are they afraid of? And aren't these the same that assured us all that "free and open" discourse (even with the enemy) was and is the proper and pure path?

Bring out the Gimp - we are truly fucked.

Your Monday Dose of Twat

<img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; Here is a quick take on the

Today's outing to the range involved my trusty 9mm carbine (which, by the way, is a great rifle), a Taurus 9mm and a FN Herstal FNP-9 9mm (the latter two of the handgun variety). The ammunition chosen for today was American Eagle 9mm.

The ammunition functioned just fine in each of the 3 weapons. However, the ammo seemed to be significantly "dirtier" than the Magtech and definitely dirtier than the Winchester NATO rounds. This was significantly obvious given the flash out of the snouts of the pistols, as well as the visible plumes of light smoke. Additionally, and possibly related, the expended shells seems a bit more violent in their ejection than the other brands. Again, not sure why that might be.

Nonetheless, it is definitely a lower quality, though reliable, ammunition. And I didn't note that the price point was any cheaper... though that likely has more to do with the retailer than anything else.

More

Again, I am not offended by it... but I was able to tell the difference. The protests themselves were less than shocking or even surprising. Much like a womyn's study professor being a dyke - or at least hating herself for not being one - protests of WTO, G summits, IMF and UN conferences are predictable. And the protesters themselves are predictable too. The likely suspects are the university-aged population set to do what idealists do... that is to do something... anything... start local, etc... the cynic in me tells me that others attend so as not to feel left out... while others just 'cause it's a good excuse to party.

But just below the surface, we find these protests are fairly well-coordinated by all manner of groups. Again, these groups are as predictable as the attendees: the communists', socialists', and workers' parties set up the entertainment, secure the necessary paperwork for the demonstration, and sprinkle their particular flavors of political philosophy (re: indoctrinal propoganda) throughout the staged event... attendees only meagerly aware of of who their hosts are. And while each group calls for "change" - and in actuality the "change" sought by each of the governing philosophies (whether communist, marxist, stalinist, nationalist, socialist, green, [insert other here]) is revolutionary... that is, the governing systems they advocate cannot peacefully coexist with capitalism. Yet, participating in these demonstrations amounts to nothing. In fact, it can be argued that these protests amount to less than nothing. In terms of advancing any of the systems on display, the resulting impact is zero. One could argue that attending these faires only provides benefit to the rulers themselves... the enemies make themselves known... are filmed and documented... the enemies are corralled and given a "peaceable" manner in which to "blow off steam".

The worst of these are the so-called anarchists, whose actual popularity is due to having a spectacular logo and a great history in punk-era UK. I say this because the anarchist movement is nothing but a pathetic, watered-down movement - near as I can tell. Lots of talk and no anarchy to speak of. What's worse is that the movement (if there really is one) has been largely subsumed by the larger socialist movements... to the degree that there is nothing radical that remains beyond the cool logo.

Which brings me to my point - I am all for the systemic collapse of this particular era. And it seems to me that the watershed is quite close. It is time for a systemic re-boot. I will not share with you in this piece why I believe we need one... desperately... but I will tell you that none of the movements out there (including radicalised Islam) can expedite it. Not one. And each day, we move closer to the inevitable - and each day I pray for the collapse to happen rapidly and definitively. It is not a political system which must be born in the wake of the collapse... which is why no political philosophy can help to bring it into being.

Wave you banners and choose a side... the moment you do, you have already chosen the losing side - and the winning side - and the losing side - and the winning side - in a hand-crafted dichotomy. The sooner you check out of the illusory state of affairs, the closer you will come to being where you desperately want to be.

Summer of Zombies - 2009

Karmageddon

To the mainstream western thinker "karma" is thought to be a eastern version of "what comes around, goes around". An additional aspect glommed onto the concept of karma is the theology surrounding reincarnation. Succinctly, the western thinker puts 2 and 2 together to form this: "what comes around goes around... and if it doesn't get you in this lifetime, it'll get you in the next". Of course, in either of these descriptions, the western thinker typically harbours an incredibly inaccurate and simple interpretation.

If I understand the larger concept, as recently described in part by a close friend of mine, Karma is to be considered at a cosmic level, whereby ones obligations, whether actively or passively "consented to" cause threads of obligations/debts to extend to and fro the parties involved. Now it is very difficult to move out of our more traditional mode of western thought, wherein mysticism has largely been exculded from our consideration of what is and is not "real". In the west, although this too is a simple interpretation of the western mind, we typically see things as cause and effect... and normally only consider the "tangible" - nary the mystical. Even in Aquinas' relating of the spiritual to his audience, he speaks (or is translated into) language in which "bodies" impact one another to some result. Or "actors" or "movers" intercede, mingle, push, pull, etcetera. Now my argument is not with St. Thomas at all. He clearly had a grasp of the come-uppance in a much more robust sense than "what comes around, goes around" sort of modality. His was much closer to my understanding (which is minimal) of the concept of karma than today's modern minds can conceive.

So, how does this obligation/indebtedness work? I do not know. But I can relate some of the concepts to you in English as I understand them to be having discussed it at some length with said friend who is much closer to grasping the concept than I.

Here is an example: your friend comments to his girlfriend that he can get you to help her find a job. Even without your knowledge, you have been karmically indebted to the girlfriend of your friend.

Here is another example: you sell something to someone. You are karmically bound to that person (stranger or no) for some period of time (possibly forever?) until somesuch occurs or the relationship is diminished in some cosmic fashion.

More close to home: you agree to do something for someone.

Even more interesting: someone gifts something to you. Or, you apologize to someone. Or, you say to someone "I owe you such-and-such".

The point being this: if this Karma thing has legs, it is important to "simplify" as you can. To cast a "small shadow". Because we haven't even begun to speak about the "energetic" issues Karma introduces into the concept... or how people through their expectations of you/for you relating to who you are and who they think you are... how they talk about you, etcetera, can impact your karmic situation.

I would put activities like blogging, emailing as risky... myspace.com or facebook.com just plain crazy to engage in. Maybe I should kill off my interactive online profile altogether.

Snap - or The Problem of the Lunatic Fringe

Is it me or have more and more people been snapping in the US of late?

I have a friend who says the piano wire is so taut right now that it has to give way... I think it is beginning to occur in the US, where this past week saw no fewer than 5 or so 1 man murder sprees. Purposeless rampages where innocents are slaughtered due to uncontrolled rage. Horrifying, really. These all occurred within one week all over the continental US.
